Compliance Officer

The company supports entrepreneurs and small- to medium-sized businesses with accessible, growth-focused financing. It also partners with equipment manufacturers, small-ticket brokers, and offers professional loans to service providers such as physicians, architects, and accountants. On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Compliance Officer to join their organization. In this role, you will ensure the company complies with internal policies and external regulatory requirements in every jurisdiction where it operates. You will help design, implement, and monitor a global compliance framework while fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, and proactive risk management.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Monitoring & Policy Management

  • Monitor and interpret relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards in jurisdictions of operation (e.g., AML, KYC, anti-bribery, data protection).

  • Stay abreast of compliance obligations under the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), Canadian regulatory frameworks, and payments industry-specific compliance requirements.

  • Maintain and update compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls in line with regulatory developments.

  • Conduct compliance risk assessments and gap analyses to identify and mitigate potential areas of concern.

Audit, Investigation & Reporting

  • Support internal audits and external regulatory inspections, ensuring timely follow-up on corrective actions.

  • Maintain accurate records of compliance activities, including policy attestations and incident reporting.

  • Support the Whistleblower policy and manage the investigation of compliance-related concerns.

Training, Advisory & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Provide compliance training and guidance to business units to promote awareness and best practices.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Risk, Operations, and other departments to embed compliance across the organization.

Due Diligence & Risk Management

  • Assist with due diligence on third parties and clients, including sanctions screening and KYC verification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business, or a related field; compliance certification (e.g., CAMS, CRCM, ICA) is a strong advantage.

  • 2-3 years of experience in a compliance, risk, or legal role within financial services, leasing, or corporate finance.

  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks such as AML/CTF, GDPR, FATCA, and/or financial licensing requirements in international markets.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of FCA compliance in the UK, Canadian financial compliance standards, and regulatory requirements for payments companies.

  • Experience working in a multinational or cross-border environment is preferred.

  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and written/verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of accuracy and integrity.

Working Hours:
Part Time (30 hours per week)
Monday through Friday 8 AM – 5 PM UK Time

Pay: $900 + $55 Allowance per month
