Join Demandbase’s Machine Learning/Data Science team as an Intern Data Scientist or Intern Machine Learning Engineer, where you will gain hands-on experience in applying machine learning (ML) and data science to real-world B2B buyer journeys. You’ll work alongside experienced data scientists and machine learning engineers to develop, analyze, and optimize machine learning models that impact millions of users and thousands of customers daily.

This role is ideal for graduate students looking to deepen their knowledge of ML, data science, and cloud-based analytics while working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA.

• Data Exploration & Preprocessing: Work with large-scale structured and unstructured datasets to clean, analyze, and extract insights.
• Feature Engineering: Assist in developing features to enhance model performance for ranking, recommendation systems, or ad optimization.
• Machine Learning Model Development: Support the design and training of ML models, leveraging libraries such as Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
• Experimentation & Evaluation: Run A/B tests and analyze results to refine models and improve business outcomes.
• Collaboration: Work closely with senior data scientists, engineers, and product managers to integrate models into production systems.
• Documentation & Research: Stay updated on ML trends and document findings to support continuous learning and knowledge sharing within the team.

What we’re looking for:

Education:

• Currently pursuing a graduate degree (PhD or Masters) in Computer Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Econometrics, or a related field.

Technical Skills:

• Experience with Python and ML libraries (e.g., Scikit-Learn, Pandas, NumPy).
• Basic familiarity with ML frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow
• Strong analytical skills, with knowledge of SQL or NoSQL databases.
• Understanding of cloud platforms (Google Cloud, AWS) is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior coursework or projects in machine learning, data science, recommendation systems, experimentation (A/B testing)
• Some experience with Scala or Spark is a plus
• Experience with neural networks and generative AI is a plus
• Passion for solving business problems with data-driven approaches.
