Senior Backend Engineer

On behalf of our partner in the defence-tech domain, GT is looking for a Senior GoLang Engineer interested in AI and aerospace.

Our client is a cutting-edge Aerospace and Defense company committed to delivering innovative, secure, and compliant solutions for our customers. They specialize in mission-critical technology services for government and private sector customers, ensuring excellence in aerospace systems design, performance, and compliance.

Currently, they are working on the AI-driven collaborative framework for the Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI/CD) of defence hardware and software, through which US and allied-defense industrial base participants can cooperate to develop and modernize major defense platforms.

So, they are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join a mission-critical product engineering team. In this role, you will help build and scale the backend infrastructure powering aerospace and defense systems that demand the highest levels of security, reliability, and performance. You’ll work on cutting-edge technologies and help deliver innovative solutions that support the needs of government and private sector clients. This is a unique opportunity to shape backend systems in a high-impact, high-compliance environment.

• Secure Backend Development: Design, develop, and maintain secure backend services and APIs using Go that support complex aerospace and defense use cases

• Scalable System Architecture: Contribute to distributed system design with a focus on reliability, fault tolerance, and scalability

• Data Modeling & Compliance: Design robust data models with a focus on performance, auditability, and security, especially using Postgres

• Collaborate on data analytics pipelines, leveraging engineering and math expertise to process, analyze, and model complex datasets

• Partner with front-end teams to support data visualization and presentation, ensuring meaningful insights are surfaced to end users

• Cloud & Infrastructure: Leverage Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services to deploy resilient, scalable infrastructure that meets federal and industry compliance standards

• Containerization & Orchestration: Manage services using Kubernetes, ensuring proper configuration, scaling, and monitoring in production environments

• Event-Driven Systems: Build real-time systems leveraging Redis Pub/Sub, Kafka, or similar technologies for reactive, event-based workflows

• Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain security-first practices, adhering to DoD/FedRAMP/NIST guidelines where applicable

• Performance Tuning: Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize systems to ensure uptime and responsiveness under mission-critical conditions

• Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, systems engineers, and QA to define, develop, and deliver backend capabilities

• Code Quality & Review: Participate in rigorous code reviews to uphold best practices and ensure reliability across critical backend systems

• Documentation: Produce and maintain comprehensive documentation for system architecture, APIs, and security processes

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, ideally in high-availability or high-security environments

• Strong background in engineering, mathematics, or related quantitative fields.

• Experience with backend data analytics systems, including ETL processes, statistical modeling, or machine learning

• Familiarity with data presentation techniques and front-end integration to deliver actionable insights

• Proficiency in Go and building microservices-based backend systems

• Strong experience with cloud-native infrastructure, preferably GCP (AWS or Azure also valuable)

• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines

• Solid knowledge of Postgres and scalable data modeling best practices

• Familiarity with event-driven architectures using Kafka, Redis, or similar technologies

• Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., aerospace, defense, healthcare, or finance) is a strong plus

• Strong understanding of software security, encryption, and authentication standards

• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills

• Ability to mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of quality and innovation
