Overview
We are seeking a skilled Backup Administrator with a strong foundation in server administration to manage, optimize, and secure our enterprise backup and storage environments. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the resilience and integrity of our data while collaborating with infrastructure teams to maintain and enhance server environments.
This role, while centered on a specific area of expertise, is part of a team of highly skilled system engineers and architects delivering a broad spectrum of server services. Consequently, the responsibilities of this position may evolve or expand over time.
Responsibilities
- Implement, and maintain enterprise backup solutions (e.g., Commvault, Veeam, NetBackup).
- Monitor and troubleshoot backup operations to ensure data availability and integrity.
- Develop and execute data recovery procedures, including disaster recovery drills.
- Perform regular backup validation and reporting to identify and address gaps.
- Optimize backup storage usage to align with performance and cost objectives.
- Manage and monitor all installed systems and backup infrastructure
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure backup solutions are integrated effectively with server configurations.
- Continuously improve backup and storage efficiency, addressing bottlenecks and cost challenges.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to existing systems.
- Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years in server and backup administration.
- Expertise with enterprise backup solutions like Commvault, Veeam, or similar tools.
- Knowledge in Windows, Linux, and VMware environments.
- Familiar with storage systems.
- Strong understanding of disaster recovery concepts and implementations.
