We are seeking a talented individual to join us for a 6 Month Internship at Mercer. This role can be based in either Dublin or Cork. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
The successful individual will have strong technical and analytical capabilities, will be a team player, hardworking, intellectually ambitious and have a keen eye for detail.
The position will encompass investment strategy and portfolio construction work for a broad range of multi-asset funds (across DC, private wealth, and wealth management) across Ireland, UK, Europe and Middle East. This includes input to client reporting.
What you can expect:
- The successful Analyst will be part of a core strategy team and will support the development of investment strategies for the multi-asset funds.
- You will be involved in the investment strategy analysis to determine the strategic asset allocations for DC, private wealth, and wealth management funds allowing for different investment objectives and constraints faced by each.
- You will support the regular review and assessment of the funds.
- You will assist the multi-asset team in client reporting for a range of clients in Ireland and beyond, including drafting client presentations, answering queries and communicating strategic asset allocation and fund updates.
- This is a growing area and the expectation is that the successful candidate will link with colleagues across Mercer Global Investments and gain insight to wider portfolio management, trading and operations functions amongst others.
What you need to have:
- Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent – Business, Accounting, Economics, Actuarial or similar discipline
- Solid interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Strong analytical and reporting skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy skills
- Strong time management skills with ability to manage across multiple tasks and to tight deadlines
- Naturally curious and a problem-solver; with a-get-involved attitude
- Flexibility to support the team and clients as needed
- Proficient MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word
What makes you stand out:
- Working towards completion of Actuarial and/or CFA professional exams
- Experience within the financial services industry (consulting, pensions, fund management, wealth management, investments or asset management)
- Understanding and experience of portfolio construction / asset allocation techniques and methodologies
- Technical modelling skills, including understanding of the processes involved.
