Senior Accountant

This is a remote position.

Full-time (40 hours a week)
M-F 9am to 6pm (includes 1 hr unpaid break)

Job Description:

  • Lead and motivate a team to achieve shared goals and maintain a positive, collaborative environment.

  • Supervise staff accountants’ work and provide constructive feedback.

  • Manage time effectively, prioritize urgent tasks, and handle multiple projects efficiently.

  • Communicate professionally with clients and internal teams via Slack, email, and phone calls.

  • Participate in weekly client calls and confidently lead discussions on AR, AP, and cash flow.

  • Support month-end close processes including reconciliations, financial analysis, and cash flow reporting.

  • Review and evaluate financials, workpapers, and processes; suggest and implement improvements.

  • Manage client expectations and maintain boundaries to ensure productive and respectful interactions.

  • Maintain and update internal tracking systems (e.g., Airtable) to support efficient operations.

  • Adapt to client software/platform changes and lead transitions with updated internal processes.

  • Mentor and train staff accountants, supporting their growth and maintaining quality standards.

Requirements

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of:

    • QuickBooks

    • NetSuite

    • Bill.com

    • Merchant platforms (Amazon, Shopify, Stripe)

    • Payroll

    • Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

    • Cash flow tools

    • Excel (intermediate to advanced level)

  • Ability to follow and develop workpapers and checklists.

Client Management:

  • Skilled in leading weekly AR, AP, and cash flow meetings.

  • Ability to prioritize client requests based on urgency and importance.

  • Experience supporting full balance sheet reconciliations and P&L analysis.

  • Understand client businesses and internal processes.

Team Management:

  • Experience cultivating and leading successful teams.

  • Ability to train and review close work of staff accountants.

  • Ability to clearly set and maintain staff expectations on communication and time management.

  • Ability to maintain and update internal systems to reflect current project status and deadlines.

Additional Expectations:

  • Uphold quality standards by using provided templates and processes.

  • Participate actively in ongoing internal training.

  • Proactively suggest improvements to enhance team efficiency and quality.

  • Maintain updated calendar availability for workload planning.
