Job Responsibilities:
- Help drive payroll strategy to align on refining current payroll operations to ensure consistency, accuracy and best in class service to our crew
- Cross-functional collaboration with various functions of the business (HR, Legal, Finance, Operations) for process improvements and efficiencies
- Partner with 3rd party payroll, Human Resources and Legal/Risk Management regarding ad hoc request / audits
- Perform in-depth investigations and analysis to determine the root cause of repeated problems to identify gaps and continuous improvement opportunities and initiate corrective actions
- Oversee and review employee action/change process (job/pay, status, location, termination, mass changes) for accuracy and efficiency
- Assists with preparation of quarterly payroll tax reporting and research and resolve payroll/tax reporting issues
- Manage reporting initiates to various agencies to maintain compliance
- Assist in ad hoc projects such as documenting workflows, registering in new states for payroll taxation, improving processes/procedures and system implementations
- Contribute to the application and monitoring of the ADP Vantage Payroll Suite framework, principles, and delegations
- Support Payroll ticketing system for payroll resolution and assist with elevated complex items that require extensive payroll knowledge such as taxation, year end reporting, wage adjustments, etc.
- Support Finance team to analyse and explain monthly and quarterly Payroll reconciliation.
- Assist with Project Management of Key Initiatives in process improvements and system upgrades
- Partner with 3rd party payroll team to ensure a positive crew member experience for all payroll related inquiries and escalations
- Assure confidentiality and security of payroll records
- Stay abreast of current legislation and market trends affecting payroll and make recommendations accordingly
- Research, analyze, and resolve all discrepancies, reporting to management as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration or the equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience. Retail experience preferred
- 5+ years of experience in fast pace multi state organization
- Hybrid in-office requirements 2 to 3 days a week
- Advanced Excel skills and experience creating pivot tables, VLOOKUP and capable of handling a high volume of data
- Broad knowledge of payroll principles, practices, processes and procedures
- Knowledge of laws and regulations that affect payroll
- Experience with 3rd party vendors, in particular ADP Vantage HCM
- Experience or knowledge of payroll taxes and W2/W2c processing
- Experience or knowledge of garnishment review and processing
- Experience with Workday preferred
- Ability to support quarterly Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) review/reporting requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent analytical, organizational, decision-making, problem-solving, team-building, and time management skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work on multiple assignments concurrently
- Ability to work under pressure of deadlines
